2. A cape-sleeved dress in dark gray shantung with a pleated front panel and crystal buttons closing it all the way down the front. By Doctor Dress. About $70.00. Hudson's. Belted hat, by Braagaard. The scarf of imitation pearls, by Richelieu.
3. A cool-necked dress in black matelasse pique, with two white lace hip pockets studded with rhinestones. By Aywon. About $35.00. Russeks; Joske's, San Antonio. The earrings, by Coro.

The average price of a new home then was $9000 about 2.56 times the yearly average wage of $3510.  Which was about 2.34 times the price of a new car $1500.  Today?
